Kindle Voyage: An electronic reader that keeps the concentration – Expansión.com

The arrival of Amazon Kindle Voyage has not been received with the hype with which could have done four years ago.

Kindle Voyage: An electronic reader maintaining concentration

The electronic book reader $ 199 has a backlit touch screen with high resolution and high contrast fused to a thin magnesium housing. All very edgy, but a question immediately arose: we still need e-readers in an era where cheap tablets abound

The answer, now more than ever, it is yes?. As someone who breaks daily in the pages of a book, I understand what Amazon intended. The Voyage is not perfect-the electronic ink technology that displays e-books are based, is inherently a compromise with its monochromatic palette, slow reaction time and its annoying updates periódicas- but the e-reader smarter to date.

Just compare the Voyage to its predecessor, the Paperwhite, which now sells for $ 119. The Voyage is almost 20% thinner despite having the same 6-inch screen. Its frame is of a more rigid material, so that the feeling of support is less plastic and the soft touch maintained that prevents the not drop. Its screen has twice the pixels, which prevents the further viewing points forming the letters, although the device is held at 15 cm from the face

The resolution enhancement is charged.: Paperwhite battery can last up to eight weeks, while the Voyage must be charged at six. That, however, does not pose a problem exactly, unless we plan out an electronic reader by hiking the Appalachian Trail.

After adding improvements, we find that in fact the last year Paperwhite There is nothing wrong. True, the Voyage is better, and vice president of Amazon devices, Peter Larsen, said that the company intends to continue manufacturing best readers in the coming years. The Voyage is pure luxury; It’s like picking a Lexus against a good Toyota

Amazon wanted a product that would make it stand out -and something.. the world needs eBook readers

while wearing reading this article, chances are your phone is vibrating or sounded once or twice. If you are reading this column on a phone or a tablet, you may have been interrupted by alerts saying things that have nothing to do with the topic on which I write. I get it. This is nothing more than a newspaper, and you are a busy person.

But when I go to bed at night with-that “book” means any device on which you are reading my electronic-books I want to forget the rest of the world. Out of work emails and Facebook updates! If there’s something urgent, since the phone will ring.

Although e-readers will not exist forever, yes I will e-books, and Amazon will probably remain the industry heavyweight yet. Although there is much debate over whether Amazon is the best place to buy books, I am in favor of the retailer because your eBooks are easy to load on many devices, not just Kindles and Fire tablets, but virtually any device with iOS , Android or Windows.

But most of these devices are distractions of the worst kind-especially when compared to their printed predecessors. Reading books should not be part of a multitasking system. If we want to remain educated in the years ahead, we must think about how we read, and not just what we read.

The Voyage is there to remind us, and is also a great device if the price of 199 dollars is not a problem. If you are willing to pay $ 20 more, you can remove ads from Amazon for the lock screen. And for $ 60 more you have unlimited 3G connection, a good deal if we constantly move. This will work even in many foreign countries.

But the Voyage is only an option. As I said, the Paperwhite is a good choice if we assume $ 80 is a big difference. Both readers offer the same benefits-along with outdoor pool, offer a much more readable than tablets, which are brighter and less contrast.

But for the people who read mostly indoors and at night, like me, a tablet may be better. In bed I use an iPad or tablet Amazon Fire HDX, changing the display to black and white and reducing glare to a minimum. This allows me to read at night without disturbing my wife, and my eyes avoiding exposure to excessive light that may nighter.

But, if like me, opt for a tablet on a e-book reader , promise me something: block or mute any distractions like e-mail or instant messages and app notifications from Facebook, Twitter and other attractions of the Internet
